FC Bayern, Deutscher Meis7er!
Last season, Bayern won the Bundesliga (German league) with five games to spare. The Reds are 21 points ahead of eventual second placer Schalke with an astounding 64-point goal difference. Last season was, indeed, a dominant display of strength and value.
This season was a bit different. Bayern has a new coach by the name “Niko Kovac”,
Joseph Gordon Levitt look-a-like former Bayern player. The season started pretty well for the reds, in fact they won four consecutive matches until that draw against FC Augsburg on September 25th.
The tables seemed to have turned as Bayern lost two consecutive games after that draw against Hertha and Gladbach. On November 10th, Bayern lost in the hand of the black and yellow squad of Dortmund followed by a draw against Fortuna.
The 2017-2018 champs seemed vulnerable in all angles with opposing teams capitalizing in the dismal atmosphere within the club. Things did shake up after the winter break when Bayern showed her fangs and climbed the Bundesliga table one step at a time. Slowly but surely, yes!
To cut the crazy story short, Bayern should have won the Meisterschale a week ago against Leipzig at the Red Bull Arena if not for the canceled (offside) goal by Leon Goretzka. With this said, Mia San Manila decided to meet on match day 34 itself, of course, in the home turf Brotzeit as if the Pinoy Reds are at the fortress Allianz. The attendance in paper is 11, eight was able to make it, the highest so far in all Mia San Manila gatherings.
What made this viewing party all the more special was that Brotzeit Philippines‘ marketing (courtesy of the lovely Ms. DK Herrera) and (ehem ehem) owner, the gracious Mr. Malvin Ang touched base with Mia San Manila and prepared “a little something” for the group.
Brotzeit Ortigas even organized a beer drinking contest and Mia San Manila was represented well by Francesca and Sen.
The game is about to start! Hold on to your seats!
In the end, despite a canceled goal by Serge Gnabry, Bayern prevailed 5 to 1 with goals coming from Kingsley Coman (on the 5th minute!), David Alaba (who, upon scoring received cheers from the MSM table screaming “Pilipino ‘yan!”), Renato Sanches (oh dear, the boy badly needs that goal and we are glad he delivered). The final goals came from the legendary duo of Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben — what a send off!
Shoutouts likewise go to Robert “Top Scorer of the Bundesliga” Lewandowski for setting up plays, for being a winger, a defender and a midfielder. Kevin “Model” Trapp was also smashing, denying Thomas “I love to dribble” Mueller several times in the game.
This event is definitely one for the books. FC Bayern… forever number one!!!
